Jimin should have stopped walking when the field of periwinkles
lessened near the almond trees that encircled his house. The large

Dialing the number would have ended the problem before it started.
But he couldn’t turn back the clock and change what happened. It’s
too late for him, for his parents.
Jimin looked back at the source of gunshots and screams he was
fleeing from.Fields of delicate flowers now adorned in corpses the
different Hues of blue now painted a deep crimson.Stray petals
followed behind him like a bitter reminder as he tore his eyes away
     and ran.
His footsteps took him to a place where he would be loved and
safe. For how long though, how could he step into there lives with his
bloodied footprints?Footprints that always led back to him no matter
how many times he wiped them clean.
Or the fic where Jimin ends up screwing things up so bad that
everyone he loved ends up dieing. He goes to an adress his parents
gave him and now lives above Jins bakery.Jimin gets a shady job but
can’t back out.Everyone is trying really hard to break down Jimins
walls. But Jimin won’t let them because he thinks he isn’t worth it.

***** Bittersweet murder *****
“-imin... Jimin!”
Jimin’s eyes slowly flickered open.
“Jimin honey, it’s time for me and your father to go to work.”
Jimin’s eyes took a second to adjust to the light coming in from the white
curtains his mother had just pulled back.
Rubbing his eyes he sat on his bed, pushing his light blue blanket off of him.
He shivered when he felt the cold breeze hit his skin. A yawn escaped his mouth
before he got up. The dark hardwood floor felt cold against his feet.
“When will you guys be back?”
“In a couple of hours honey.” She gestured towards the door hinting for Jimin
to follow. Jimin quickly folded his blanket back into place. He fumbled with it
a bit, clearly still not fully awake and headed towards the door.
“Ah put your slippers on Jimin the floor is cold.”
Jimin crouched down and grabbed his fluffy panda slippers from under his bed
and slipped them onto his feet. They made there way down the hall to the
kitchen. Jimin took in the smell of pancakes and hot chocolate.
Pancakes weren’t really a part of a traditional Korean breakfast but his father
had grown up in America and he much preferred pancakes over any Korean
breakfast dish u could offer.
“Good morning,” His father said when he spotted Jimin. Immediately flashing him
a warm smile. Jimin did the same. He was seated at the table fork in hand,
pouring an unnecessary amount of maple syrup onto the stack of pancakes in
front of him.
“Eat quickly I just got a call about a fight. They say the found a kitten in
the side of the road. Poor thing was bitten all over by a dog .”
“Why didn’t u say that earlier?!” Jimins father said as he scarfed down the
last of his pancakes without a second thought.
“To see the kitten!” He said with a hot chocolate mustache decorating his face
as he pointed into the air while putting his foot on the chair. Jimin giggled
at his father's failed attempt of a superhero pose. Mr.Park was a goofy man and
was often scolded more times than Jimin ever had been. His father worked as a
veterinarian considering his ability it made sense.

In truth they were a family of mutants. They lived in a world where not just
them but many others lived in hiding. They couldn’t just come out and say
things like;
“Oh hey we are mutants but not like the ones u see on the news. We expect u to
welcome us with open arms.”
As a mutant if you ever thought like that u would most likely end up dead. It
didn’t help that Mutant involved crimes were at an all time high which made
things like living a normal life difficult for Jimin and his family. Here in
Korea it was pretty much a normal thing to see news channels only discussing
mutant cases. Not corrupted politics, the rising number of suicides, or
unreachable beauty standard that r placed upon every Korean citizen. Apparently
what's most important is how many orphanages filled with innocent mutants
children were burned down to the ground. Well indeed it was a topic to be
discussed but not something that should be celebrated or considered good news.
It angered Jimin to see that another mutant orphanage had been set ablaze by
the MEU.
MEU was short for mutant extermination units. They would kill any mutant they
could get there hands on.
Nowadays it seemed less of a job and more of a sport. Everyday hundreds if not
thousands of innocent mutants were killed. What for? That's what’s angered
Jimin the most. There was no reason. They killed mutants simply because they
existed. If the MEU found them there was no negotiating. Jimin would be killed
on sight along with his parents. No matter how much Jimin longed to live
normally he knew his parents would never take the risk not while there sons
life was going to be risked.
No one knew of Jimins existence except for his parents and a family friend his
mother had mentioned once. There were no records of him, his parents went
through great lengths to make sure of it. Jimin was born in his house without
the aid of any doctor. It was difficult for his mother since the only person
she had to help her was her husband. For the couple of hours it took for their
son to be born his father had became so nervous he almost dropped Jimin as soon
as he was born.
Giving birth to Jimin without a doctor was only the first precaution. The Parks
bought their house(and the secluded area around it )where there were no people
to be found for miles. There was only one other building, a small shed to the
left of the house.
The woods they occupied was covered in thick pine trees to guarantee they
couldn’t be spotted from any angle. All of the pine trees gave off a strong
smell of well pine. No matter where he was in the house the smell was always
evident. It even managed to have seeped into jimin’s skin making him smell
permanently of pine. Jimin didn’t mind he loved the smell.
Jimins house was a small one story house that had an attic. There were 2
bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen that was linked to a dining room, and a living
room. It wasn’t much but it was comfortable. There house was home which is all
they really needed.
The outside was painted a pale blue that was already chipping off. They had a
porch made of wood that was painted white, now a grayish color due to the not
so kind weather and *cough Jimin. On the porch was a striped white and grey
hammock and 2 vintage chairs. Jimin liked to swing on the hammock. The vintage
chairs were for his parents and occasionally a couple of animals that liked to
watch Jimin play.
Oddly enough though even if they lived in a pine forest there house was
surrounded by a circle of almond trees his mother had planted.
Jimin had never stepped outside those almond trees that served as a boundary. A
boundary he was not ever meant to cross.
Within the circle were fields of periwinkles that seemed to never bloom. They
were Jimins favorite flowers, Small but cute. Jimin couldn’t count them all if
he tried for a full year. And as much as he wanted to hop in and just feel the
delicate floors between his fingers he couldn’t touch them.He was forbidden to
step into the field. If he wanted to take a stroll outside Jimin promised to
only step on the Stone path.
His mother had warned him,
“Jimmie these flowers are extremely fragile so don’t step on them.”
Jimin agreed happily, he didn’t want to trample on them before they got the
chance to bloom.
Although It was strange, it’s been years and there buds haven’t bloomed yet.

“Come on Sweetie if that stray has rabies we gotta get there ASAP,” Mr.Park
said running out the door.Jimin’s mother grabbed her coat and purse before
answering.
“Wait for me honey. You better not leave without me again.” There was a time
where Mr.Park was in such a rush to get to work he had forgotten his wife at
home. The whole family still laughs about it to this day.
She hugged Jimin and gave him a tight squeeze before leaving saying a “Goodbye
Jimin,” over her shoulder.

Jimin’s mother was a plant manipulator and his father an animal persuader. As
an animal persuader becoming a vet was an obvious choice for his dad. Mr.Park
loves animals and with his ability he had a way to help them so he opened up
his own vet. With the assistance of his wife too of course. After years of
studying plants his mother was able to make very effective medicines and was
also skilled in many other areas.
Jimin always envied there abilities. They were extraordinary and in some ways
beautiful. Every time his mother made a wilting plant blossom or when his
father would help a deer find the nearest stream his heart throbbed. There
abilities reflected his parents in a way his never could.
U see unlike his parents jimin's ability wasn’t as peaceful as there’s. In fact
it was quite the opposite. There is no known name for his ability like there is
for telepath or Mind manipulator. If any one ever saw it in play though they
would describe it as gruesome and horrendous.
Jimins ability has only one use, killing. Jimin hated his ability more than he
hated the MEU. It wasn’t possible for him to just forget its existence, much to
his distaste. Especially since every time he looked at his hands he was
reminded of what a monster he believed himself to be. His ability caused his
hands and fingernails to be forever stained black. The black faded into his
skin before reaching his elbow joints.
The instant his hands were to touch any breathings thing blood would pour out
of them as if trying to escape. The scarlet substance would spill out of there
eyes, nose, mouth and ears.
He discovered his powers when he was 8. Jimin was playing outside on a sunny
day. There were no clouds in the sky just a sea of blue. The usual smell of
pine was in the air. There 8 year old Jimin was sitting on the soft green grass
a couple feet away from the porch picking at some Daisies and weeds. Jimin
wanted to make a bouquet for his mom because she loves plants.
“Sweetie what are you doing?”
His mother had been watching him pluck out daisies and weeds from the ground
for a while.
“I’m making you a b-b-bbb,” Jimin pouted. He couldn’t remember how to pronounce
the word.
“Bouquet?” She giggled as her sons face changed from one of confusion to one of
joy. When he smiled his eyes seemed to disappear completely. She pinched Jimins
chubby cheeks earning a soft laugh from Jimin.
“Ya!”
“But Jimin u know weeds aren’t meant to be in bouquets right?”
his mother asked curiously.
“I didn’t want them to be lonely since I took there daisy friends” he started
to explain looking like he wanted to cry.
Mrs.Park laughed at her adorably sweet son. Even though Jimin had never left
the house, in case he ended up being a mutant, and was quite lonely he had
managed to grow up to be a lively kind child. At times he can be rather shy but
It just adds to his charm or so his mother says.
“That's very nice of u Jimin,” she patted his head,”As a reward do u want me to
make you kimchi jjigae?”
Jimin immediately nodded his head and muttered a silent but excited,”Yes
please!”
She walked into her house,” Your father will be out to watch u in a minute. He
managed to tangle his tie around his ankle and his wrist...again.”
Honestly how does he manage to do that when the tie was supposed be around his
neck. This isn’t even the first time either it’s the third. Jimin’s mother
thought to herself.
A few moments after his mother had left a group of bunnies approached Jimin.
There were three bunnies all with light grey fur that had blotches of white In
random places. Bunnies usually give birth to litters of baby bunnies so there
rest of them must have been playing in the forest at the time.
Jimin loved anything small and fluffy so he approached them and sat back down
again holding grass for them. Looking up from the ground the bunnies quickly
hopped over to Jimin, nestling into his lap. That’s when things started to
derail. Like a normal 8 year old child he would have random naps sessions at
times. This was one of those times. Jimin dozed off snuggling with the bunnies
in his lap small chubby arm wrapped around them.
It hadn’t even been 10 minutes when he was woken from his naps by screaming.
Jimin couldn’t remember much after that. It was just a blurry memory soaked in
red that lay at the back of his head. When the subject came up his parents had
told him they had found him napping in a pool of blood, hands now black,
hugging the corpses of 3 small bunnies. That scream he had heard was from his
mother who yelled confusing the blood from the bunnies to be Jimins.

Jimin watched as his parents rode off. Only looking away when the back of the
car was no longer in his line of vision.
Walking past the table he made his way back down the hall and arrived in his
room again.
Jimins room was a light blue that matched the blankets on his bed. His curtains
were white with lace on the ends. Jimin’s room was covered in stuffed animals.
His dad had told him before that he could throw them away but Jimin refused.
Over my dead body was his immediate thought. On the walls hung a couple of his
old drawings of what was supposed to be him, his dad, and his mom. He laughed
to himself, they look like potato people.
Ok Jimin the adults are gone now it’s time to practice! He said aloud to
himself. Even though Jimin didn’t go to school his parent wanted him to still
get an education. When he woke up he had 2 free hours until he had to study for
4 hours. Then for the rest of the day he was forced to train. Train for what?
It was just another precaution his parents set him up to do for 5 days a week
since he was 8. It was to strengthen his body.
When Jimin's powers surfaced his father taught him in between studies to defend
himself. By defend himself he meant to fight. It wasn’t like that bullshit in
TV where u can just be naturally good at it and then enhance it. Jimin was
fucking terrible at it. He got his ass handed to him several times by his
father. There were times when Jimin was so frustrated he would cry all night.
He begged to stop the training. His parents knew better than to give in because
no matter how hard it would get it was better than watching him be helplessly
killed in front of their eyes. Jimin was going to survive even if they had to
lay down their own lives. One day they will be found and they will be ready.
After years and years of blood, sweat, and tears (yes I just did that) he had
finally learned how to kick ass. By kick ass I mean sever your spinal cord thus
making you unable to properly function. Which is only if he is feeling
generous. Jimin knows how to use a vast majority of guns and his aim is almost
spot on.
Let’s be honest Jimin looks like a delicate little flower. Thanks to his father
Jimin has the face of a baby and the body of a god. He could probably choke you
to death with his thighs. All that physical training paid off pretty well.
Unfortunately for Jimin though he still has to wear a bulletproof vest whenever
he leaves the house.
There’s a growing list of things Jimin doesn’t like. The MEU, his ability, and
violence(also mangoes). More specifically killing.
He always thought when it came down to it would he be able to kill. A life is a
precious thing how could someone like Jimin be able to take it away?
“There will come a day when we won’t be safe anymore. Your going to have to
hurt others...your going to have to end people's lives. Just know that even if
there blood is on your hands it's not your fault Jimin. It will never be your
fault Jimin”
Mr and Mrs. Park always reminded him of the little mercy the outside world
would show them. Non Mutants definition of mercy was a quick death no more no
less. Jimin memorized those words, practically burned them into his mind.

Trainings isn’t until another couple of hours so Jimin's using his free time to
practice dance. No one teaches him dance like his father teaches him self
defense or how his mother teaches him school subjects. Dancing was something he
had taught himself over the years. He didn’t like to brag but he thought he was
pretty good at it. Then again it’s not like he had anyone to compare it to.

Jimin breathed heavily as he ran his hand through his hair that stuck together
with sweat.
One more time.
He said to himself while walking over to his black boombox, hitting the play
button for the millionth time today. Actually jimin was supposed have been
studying at the time yet here he was being unable to fight the urge to do the
choreography again until it was perfect. Earlier he had pushed his bed,
dresser, and closet to the farthest corner of his room in order to create his
own space for dancing. All his stuffed toys croaded the hallway since there
were too many to just push to the side. As the music started again he heard a
noise that sounded like a pang.
He turned the boombox off.
What was that?
Pang...Pang…
Was that someone trying to break in? No jimin stop overreacting. Why would
anyone be this deep into the forest?
Pang...This time jimin looked over to the window. The feeling of fear that sat
at the bottom of his stomach dispersed as he laid eyes on Chin-Sun sitting next
to his pots of PeriWinkles. He let out a faint hearted laugh as he opened the
window.
“Chin-sun what are you doing?”
Chin-sun was a blue and white flycatcher bird. She was Jimin’s best friend and
quite frankly his only friend. He couldn't talk to her like his father could
nor could she talk back but Chin-sun never left his side and when he talked she
seemed to be listening even if she couldn’t understand. Jimin told her
everything from how he loved his parents to how lonely he always felt. Chin-sun
couldn't understand the depth of the things he told her. But it didn't matter
because to her those words were as light as the air itself. Wherever she would
leave she would carry them off as she flew away. She would fly his problems
away in her vibrant blue feathers and that's what he loved most about Chin-sun.
Chin-sun hopped inside leaving tiny spots of blood on the windowsill.
“Ah Chin-sun not again,” jimin whined.
Chin-sun always came home with a new injury. Jimin never understood how she
could be this clumsy. Then again he wasn’t one to talk.(Ever kick your own self
off a chair? Welp Park jimin has) Jimin gently picked her up. Jimin has done
this at least 5 million times in this past month so he did what he always did.
Step one head to the Bathroom. Check, he almost tripped on air as he went
inside.
Step 2 inspect her injury. She had a stick stuck through her wing, Check.
Even if Jimin did this routine everyday he still couldn't help but worry about
Chin-sun.
Step 3, grab the first aid kit. Jimin opened up the cupboard under the sink to
find that the first aid kit was in fact completely empty except for a couple of
band aid wrappers. Jimin opened and closed it as if supplies would suddenly
appear inside.
There is no freaking way that this is even possible.
Except it is.
“How could the first aid kit be empty! Mom just bought a new one this monday,”
he rummaged through the cupboard,” Today's flipping friday!”
He looked over at Chin-sun pointing an accusing finger.
“Chin-sun seriously?!”
As if to understand the meaning behind the finger being pointed at her she
chirped at his hand.
Jimin looked at his hand. More specifically at the bandages decorating his
fingers. Chin-sun was probably pointing out she wasn't the only one who had
blown through there medical supplies this week.
“Ahhhhhh”
Jimin whined even more. He slipped to the tile floor and contemplated what to
do next.
“Aish i better call mom then,”
he got up and grabbed the phone from the counter just to immediately put it
down.
“Ah i can’t,” Jimin thought about how his parents rushed out of the house to
get to the vet. Being the kind and considerate person he was he couldn't bring
himself to bother them. Jimin was a big softie and he cared about everything.
Whenever it rained he stayed outside with the animals just so he wouldn't feel
bad about them being the only ones getting soaked much to his parents protest.
He always ate all his food because he pitied those who didn't have any. He
never asked for much and was kind and understanding. And now what was he to do
when he couldn’t call for help but didn't want his only friends to suffer.
Might as well go to the store my self.
Jimin mentally slapped himself for even thinking about it. Jimin knows what
would happen if he were to get captured by the MEU. Being reminded everyday of
it tends to make it stick. He looked over at Chin-sun.
Jimin knows the way to every convenience store, pharmacist, gas station, and
even hotels. He spent a lot of his time going over the maps of the area.
Sometimes maps of all of Busan and even of places he's never heard of. Its one
of the only things he did during his spare time.
With all the pacing back and forth Jimin could have left his footprints burned
into the floor. If he were to get caught he would be killed. But then again the
only evidence of him being a mutant were his hands. If he just covered them
then there wouldn’t be a problem. It was already winter no one would find it
strange if he wore gloves and a jacket.
Nope it’s too high a risk. It would be like betraying his parents trust if he
left. GOD it would also be ignoring Chin-sun if he didn’t.
It wouldn't hurt if its only for a little right? Go in and then out. Nothing
complicated. He's doing this for Chin-sun she needs help now. Jimin slowly but
unknowingly fell into his desire to leave, reassuring himself that it's only a
small trip. Being locked up for 16 years had caused his resolve to waver.
“I can't just leave u like this Chin-sun. I swear i will be right back.”
Chin-sun wasn't really listening she had fallen asleep long ago. The pain in
her wing wasn't going to stop her from sleeping nothing ever would.
Jimin flung his sweaty clothes onto the floor while he continued to strip. He
waited for the water to get warm before getting in. Jimin scrubbed his hair
quickly and thoroughly making sure his black hair would turn out fluffy and
soft when dry. Chin-sun was still asleep on the counter with a small puddle of
blood under her wing.
Jimin wiped the fog from the mirror. He looked at his reflection for a while,
poking his chubby cheeks.
Thanking god for face mask because otherwise he would be another teen going
through puberty with unclear skin.
With a towel wrapped around his waist JImin headed to his room.Opening his
closet he choose a pair of light blue ripped jeans that were folded at the ends
and an oversized pastel pink sweater. He grabbed his hand made pair of white
gloves his mother had knitted for him in order to cover his hands. To top his
Look he added a black beanie and wrapped a thick white(also knitted by his
mother)scarf around his face. Jimin took one last look in the mirror, adjusting
a couple strands of his black hair. When Jimin glanced at the portrait of his
parents hanging on the wall, noting how there were no pictures of him anywhere
in the house, he felt a wave of guilt hit him. Screw it! Jimin stormed over to
his bed and pulled out his bullet proof vest. He had to promised his parents
that whenever he went to play outside he would wear it. So he fastened it to
his chest, his oversized sweater made it almost impossible to see.
He stopped at the entrance. Come on Jimin. You can do this. He said to himself
as he took his slippers off and put on his white slightly tattered converse.
Am I seriously doing this? What am I thinking I should just go back inside. No
! It’s ok I can do this. Chin-sun needs medical attention I have to do this.
He had been walking around the forest headed west for 15 minutes now. Jimin was
anxious, slightly nervous, and very cautious. He winced every time he stepped
on a dry leaf that had fallen due to the weather. It was currently winter in
Busan so he had made sure to dress warmly.
Ah! Jimin was so relieved when he laid eyes on the black road. Just a little
farther. A smile spread over his face. Jimin walked alongside the road looking
at the area. It was still surrounded by large pine trees and smelled the same
it even looked the same( except for the road) yet it felt so different. With a
slight skip in his steps Jimin picked up the pace. A feeling of excitement
replaced the feelings of anxiousness and fear from earlier. Jimin's heart
jumped out of his chest when he spotted the silhouettes of buildings. That skip
turned Into a run.
A gasp escaped his lips when he looked around at all the people and stores.
There were so many different people each one unlike the other. Jimin had only
came into contact with 2 people throughout his 16 years of living. He was
honestly starting to believe he and his parents were the only people on this
earth.
He oohed and awed at literally everything he saw. His eyes widened at the sight
of what was seemingly a normal street with a couple of stores. He felt his eyes
light up at everything that must be normal to most people but foreign to him.
Jimin felt the corners of his smile drop when he spotted a couple of kids.
Jimin envied the school students he saw across the street. They were able to
laugh, and have fun, and above all live freely.
Oh shi-afgh!(he didn’t wanna curse his parents had raised him better than that)
His original mission almost had slipped his mind. Jimin read the street name
and walked to the nearest convenience store. It wasn’t very big but Jimin
didn’t want to have to walk 17 more blocks. There was a small bell hanging
above the door that jingled when he entered. He roamed the aisles looking for a
first aid kit but apparently they didn’t tell any. Jimin settled for some
gauze, cotton pads, and disinfectant.
“Um would that be all sir?”
The cashier questioned. Why did he look so done with me? Is it normal for all
cashiers to look so lifeless? He must be having a hard time. Jimin’s heart
softened when he saw the dark bags under the cashiers eyes. The cashier was a
man in his mid thirties with short black hair. He nodded and smiled at him. Not
that he could actually see it. Jimins thick scarf covered more that half of his
face. Despite that though the cashier understood it was a smile by the way his
eyes formed crescents. He sent him a warm smile.
As he was walking out he spotted a bag of pink and white marshmallows.
“Actually.” He began again grabbing the bag.
He exited the store with his bag of medicine and marshmallows. But not before
leaving a generous tip for the cashier.
“Hehehe,” Jimin giggled. I knew it wasn’t going to be that bad. Now all I have
to do is get to chin-sun. Jimin smiled to himself.
Sadly Jimin had spoken too soon.
“Hey there kid.” A raspy voice came from behind him. Jimin turned all the way
around. There were 3 full grown men standing behind him. Jimin disliked how
these men gave off a dangerous feeling. As if there malintentions were written
blatantly across their foreheads.
“Yes?”
Smug smiles that depicted nothing but arrogance decorated their faces. The
three men that stood at least a foot above Jimin encircled him like a pack of
wolves cornering a helpless deer. He prayed that these men didn’t cause a scene
in public. He knows best than to warrant any unnecessary attention. Maybe they
would just leave him alone.
“Come with us. Dont u dare start calling for help.” He could feel something
being pressed against his back. It was definitely a knife.
They dragged Jimin to an alleyway a block away. Those who noticed something was
wrong didn’t spare him anything but a glance.
Jimin’s face said calm and collected but his insides screamed fuck. He had
hopes that people weren’t as bad as his parents described. That maybe they were
understanding. Alas it seems he was wrong and if Jimin didn’t know that before
he will from now on.
They forced him to go deeper into the alleyway. The smell of something rancid
and smoke was in the air. It only got stronger as he continued to walk, his
legs shaking underneath him. Jimin looked for any possible escape routes. On
his left was a brick buildings that had a broken window, the shattered glass
from it was scattered all over the floor. If it was lower Jimin might have been
able to reach it but god damn it he was too short. The only way to leave was by
the same way he came in.
One of the men presumably the leader shoved Jimin forward. This man and his
friends were at least 40 judging by their wrinkles and scruff appearances. The
leader loomed over Jimin and was the more muscular out of the three. The 2
behind him were leaner and less muscular but again still bigger than jimin.
Jimin could tell that they were gangsters. He had seen many movies scenes just
like this. Why did things like this happen in alleyways?
“Um w-what do you people want I have to get home.” Jimin's voice sounded
strained, barley even audible. One of the men snatched his bag.
“Hey-“ before he could finish he was punched square in the face. Jimin fell to
the pavement from the impact immediately gripping his nose. As he pulled his
hands away from his nose there were traces of blood on the fingertips of his
white gloves.
“Stupid fucking brat have some respect for your elders.”
Jimin tried to pull himself off the ground when he felt the sharp pain of two
kicks against his stomach. Thanks to the bulletproof vest he had hidden under
his sweater the blows were softened.
“Please give it back.” Jimin pleaded he needed to give those to chin-sun. Still
rolled up in a ball on the floor he made an attempt to reach for the bag.
“Oh this?
The man who had snatched it, dangled it in the air before dumping everything
inside the bag on to the floor.
For Jimin it was as if everything happened slowly. The packets of gauze, cotton
pads, bottle of disinfectant, and marshmallows all fell to the ground under
seconds but to Jimin it was like watching it in slow motion. Even when one of
the men grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and yelled in his face all he
could do was stare at Chin-suns things.
Another blow to his face is what snapped him out of his trance.
“R U LISTENING U BRAT?!”
The leader grabbed Jimins hair and pulled it so Jimin was facing him.
“Uh-ahh let me go!” In a desperate attempt to get the man to let go Jimin
clawed at him, accidentally scratching the mans face. Jimin left a small cut
across the man's cheek.
He lifted his had to wipe at it and as soon as he saw a speck of crimson his
face contorted into one of disgust.
“Imma teach u a lesson you'll never forget.”
The other two men who had been standing around idly suddenly held back both of
Jimins arms.
The leader pulled out a small knife out of his back pocket. The smile he
carried was sickening. Jimin held his breath as the knife was brought closer to
his face. He squirmed and thrashed. The grip the men had on him wasn’t the
strongest nonetheless Jimin couldn’t break free. He was so horrified that he
couldn’t think straight and his body had turned to jello. Dragging the cold
blade against Jimin's jawline he pressed it harder until blood started
dripping.
Jimin let out an agonizing cry.
“No please! Stop!” Jimin cried louder his sobs echoing through their ears and
they enjoyed it. One of the men yanked Jimin by the hair and threw him against
the brick wall. Jimin let out an,”Umph” as he fell to the ground. Shards of
broken glass pierced through his sweater finding their way into Jimin's skin.
They kicked and punched, each worst than the last. After 20 minutes or so they
eventually grew bored of his pleas for help.
“Ok looks like we are done with em let’s go grab a drink.”
“Ah wait”
One of the men grabbed the bottle of disinfect and poured it over Jimin. He
stepped on Jimin' face making sure it grinded against the floor.
“Ha good Idea,” the leader laughed as he took a puff from his cigarette. And
they all began to walk away.
They were just leaving as if nothing ever happened like all was well and they
just hadn’t beaten an innocent civilian for their own personal amusement. What
about Jimin? What about Chin-sun?
Jimin lay there, sprawled on the concrete floor covered in dirt and
disinfectant. Jimin's normally slightly tanned skin was littered in purple
bruises. Small shards of glass were stuck in his arm and face. His sweater was
covered in god knows what. The light blue jeans he had on were even more ripped
up then he remembered. Jimins beanie and scarf were long forgotten. It didn’t
matter as much as long as he still had his gloves, also covered in dirt and
blood. Even without a mirror he could tell that he looked like crap. His hair
was out of place sticking up everywhere from the yanking those men were doing.
His plump lower lip was split, a small drop of blood forming in the corner. The
cut the man left near his jawline was short but god dammit, it was definitely
going to scar. It stung and bled leaving trails of blood falling down his face
and onto his pastel sweater. Jimin's eyes were swollen and red from the tears
he had wept. Tears that he continued to weep. Throughout the alleyway his
muffled sobs echoed.
No amount of mental training could have prepared him for that day. Jimin didn’t
expect for this to happen especially to him. He knew he was kind, always tried
his best to make sure everyone was pleased. So why? Why him, what did he do? If
they treated him like this when they thought he was human then who knows what
they would do if they found out what he really was.
As much as Jimin wanted to stay curled up in a ball on the floor, hopefully
never crossing paths with those men, he found himself getting up. His body
refused to lay on the floor helplessly any longer. Why? Why am I standing?
A little further down although faint was there laughter. Ah, that’s why.
There laughter mocked Jimin, mocked his inability to protect himself, to
protect Chin-sun. To Jimin it sounded like nails against a chalkboard.
There laughs filled his head getting louder and louder, something inside of
Jimin began to stir. He couldn’t quite place what he was feeling since not once
in is life had he experienced it. Perhaps it was a new found emotion, something
he had never had to express. He didn’t fucking know. It was as if it overcame
him, growing like thorny vines that wrapped around his whole body. Ones that
dung there thorns into his heart, numbing all of his emotions. Leaving no room
to even consider mercy. All the while telling him one thing, “don’t let them
get away with hurting you.”
So he obediently followed his commands. He stood up, his legs no longer jello.
His mind was foggy but sharp and calculating. Wiping at his tear stained face
and then his bloodied nose with his gloves he looked around. The three men
continued to walk away their backs turned away from Jimin. There next to a
dumpster was an empty glass bottle of beer. Grabbing it by the longer thinner
part he lifted it off the ground. Jimin hurled the bottle at the three. It hit
one of the leaders henchmen so hard against his head that it broke. Glass fell
to the floor and so did that man.
“The fuck!?” They all yelled simultaneously, whipping their heads so fast
towards Jimin they could’ve broken their necks.
“Your gonna regret that bastard.”
The leader nudged at the man who had punched Jimin in the face earlier.
“Get em.”
The bastard had the nerve to walk over to Jimin with the same cocky grin.
“Yah who do you think you are?”
He said as he roughly poked in between Jimins eyebrows. Jimin stayed in place,
his eyes observing every move this man made.
“I asked you a question punk!”
The man brought up his hand to slap Jimin. His hand was an inch away from
Jimin's face when he grabbed the man's hand with an iron grip and bent his
index and middle finger all the way back.
“AHHHH-,” Grabbing the arm of the man he pulled him closer and punched him in
the face the man stumbled back, once again Jimin pulled him in, this punch
knocking him to his ass. Clutching his face as he yelled for help.
The other 2 stared in disbelief. What had changed? A few moments ago this kid
had been nothing but pathetic, the literal definition of weak. An insect they
easily smashed under there shoes. Well they thought they did.
Now he stood in front of them no fear, no signs of hesitation, no nothing. The
weakinling they had stomped all over carried the emptiest expression they had
ever seen. How could a child carry such a menacing feeling. Although Jimin
looked directly at them he didn’t see them. What he saw was 2 threats that he
had to neutralize.
The two men’s pride didn’t allow them to run away.
“Why you little shit!”
They both came running at him. Jimin ran ahead the dead end in sight. As soon
as he was a couple a feet away from the wall, the two men a few steps behind
him, he jumped. Using the wall to run up and landing right behind him on one
knee.
They were cornered. Nowhere to run now.
“Do you honestly think you can beat us with your fancy acrobatics? It’s two vs
one and if u haven’t noticed we are way bigger than you.”
They way his words came out of his mouth pissed Jimin off. He was looking down
on him, in that moment Jimin didn’t realize what he was doing as he slowly
stood up. Peeling him gloves off one by one.
“What the hell are you?”
“Fuck boss he’s a mutant.”Jimin noticed the way there bodies trembled at the
sight of his hands. Suddenly two arms gripped him from behind.
“I got em boss.”
“Wait don’t u don’t what he can do-! “
The Arms wrapped around him faltered, Jimin hands atop his arms. He sputtered
blood. his face immediately lost color and his eyes watered over as beads of
blood formed and spilled out of his eyes. Jimins hand was still on his arm as
he fell to the ground.
“Uh-h-hel-p m-“ his words were drowned out by the blood clogging up his throat
escaping from the mouth. No words came out of his mouth and he couldn't
register any sounds around him, the blood in his ears caused everything around
him to sound muffled. On his back he lay one hand covering his mouth.
“P-please…”
Blood spilled between his fingers, he begged. if Jimin had been in his right
mind he would have immediately stopped but in this moment he wasn't himself.
The leader and his other minion stood there neither making a move, yet. The
bosses voice trembled as he spoke up.
“K-kid let him go! Or you’ll regret it, just w-walk away and we will pretend
this never happened. We won't even tell the MEU.”
Jimin heard his half assed excuse for a negotiation.
Walk away? As if nothing ever happened?MEU huh?
‘Heh..Hahaha..” Jimin laughed no real emotion put into it.
“Why the hell are you laughing?”
JImin stopped he looked straight at the two he had cornered and lifted his hand
off the third man. Blood ceased draining out of him yet he still felt like hell
and back.
“Deal? Ok guys lets go.”
The boss and the minion let out a relieved sigh, taking a moment to compose
themselves.
“As if nothing happened right?’
“Of course we swear we won't tell anyone.”
“Heh Ha ha,” Jimin laughed again,” Wasnt that what you were doing earlier.”
less of a question more of a statement.
“w-What?”
Jimin placed his foot against the third man's face who lay on the floor drained
of any power to fight back.
These men had not too long ago kicked, punch, stabbed and spat on him and when
they finished the walked away like nothing. They had already forgot what they
had done as they walked away a few minutes ago. Now that jimin had power over
them they begged at his feet, fear there only motivation to do so. Let's say
Jimin did let them go there were no guarantee scum like them wouldn’t do it to
someone else. Someone who had no power, completely and utterly helpless.
JImin wouldn’t allow it. The pain he felt he didn't want any other mutant to
feel. it's something he was fine carrying all on his own. He was Jimin and tho
empty at the moment he was going to do what he had been taught what he had been
holding in the entire time he lay on the floor broken.
Grinding his face into the floor like he had done once to Jmin he felt no
remorse.
“What are you doing we had a deal?!”
“I don't remember agreeing to anything.
Fuck they were screwed.
“Please don’t.”
the man under his foot cried. It was a pitiful sight, a man over his 40s
pleading for his life to a kid.
Jimin removed his foot, slowly bending down so he was propped on his knees.
Slightly hovering over the man. His arms reached over to his face Stroking his
cheek. It was not comforting at all. In his eyes JImin was death itself looming
over him, his touch icy cold as death usually is.
Jimins light brown eyes were replaced by a pitch black not even a glint of
light was shown. His smile had long been wiped off his face, expression
neutral.
Both hands were placed on each side of the man's face. His left was on the back
of his head and the other placed between his head and neck.
‘Hey?! What are you doin!?” the boss yelled.
Jimin slowly turned his head back hands still in place.
“Showing you.”Jimin said voice gentle.
“Showing us what?”
Showing you that I am not weak. I won’t hide my tail between my legs and beg
for mercy. I am just a child how could you have done that to me. I was scared
but I wasn't weak. It was true after all. The hate humans had for us. They had
beaten me for just being human surely they would have killed me if they knew I
was a mutant right from the beginning. If…if you want to hurt me hurt me as
long as it doesn’t hurt others.. but this because of them chin-sun is in
pain...let me show you what happens when you hurt my friends.. when you get in
my way. Jimin didn’t explain himself aloud
JImin eyes narrowed, his fingers tightened their grip on the man's neck. The
man's eyes met Jimin's, with the last bit of strength he had he grabbed jimin's
arm and held on. Scowling at the boy crouching next to him.
“Y-You monster..”
He spat blood at Jimin's face. He flinched at the mans words, blood falling
down his cheeks.
Two swift movements. That's all it took. He snapped his neck. The sound hung in
the air along with two gasps.
“You mother fucker!”
They came at Jimin fist flying. Jimin gracefully dodged both attacks. The two
ruffians didn’t really have any strategy’s hence they continued to punch the
air instead of Jimin. This was taking too long chin-sun was still at home
waiting for Jimin.
It was time to get rid of them…
Jimin launched himself at the boss punching him in the throat causing him to
hic and stumble onto the floor as he gasped for air. In the corner of his eye
he saw the minions fist heading towards him. Moving his head slightly he
avoided It and held on to it with an iron grip. Jimin turned around facing the
man. Fist in hand he twisted his arm so his elbow was facing up. Raising his
free hand he punched down on it breaking the bone there. Jimin chuckled at the
sight of this man's arm dangling in directions it wasn’t meant to as he howled
in pain. The man fell to his knees holding onto his arm to steady it. Jimin
stepped back and swing a strong kick at the side of the man's head. He lay on
the floor like they had Jimin do earlier and stepped on his throat. Jimin
stomped and stomped crushing his windpipes under his foot. Jimin stopped when
he no longer heard this mans pleas for help, now replaced by wheezing. Jimin
crouched down and held this man's throat in his hands. In response the man only
squirmed and leaked blood everywhere. One more wheeze, He stopped moving. He
was dead.
One more.
The leader he was the last one. Jimin stood and kicked the corpse to the side.
“Y-you, your disgusting.”
He choked out.
I know...I know
Jimin noticed it took all of his energy to stand up from the piles of trash he
had landed on. He wasn’t going to win. This man would die just like the other
two. Jimins light careful footsteps turned into a run. He pounced on him,
dropping the man back onto the floor. Jimin punched him furiously. His knuckles
split and bloody. He couldn’t feel it though. Not the pain he inflicted on them
not the cuts and bruises that adorned his body. He couldn’t feel anything his
body was numb.
“Take this you freak!”
Somehow he managed to pull his knife out and slash it around. The knife swung
violently at Jimin but didn’t pierce him deeply. Jimin shielded his face as it
left slices on his arms and hands.
“Just die already.”
Jimin requested as he grabbed the knife with his bare hand. It cut through his
palm but Jimin didn’t release it. Jimins black stained hand touched the leaders
arm. He thrashed, it was no use Jimin already had him. The knife fell to the
floor with a clang. The man fell limp like an overcooked noodle. Jimin wasn’t
going to let go not even after the man stopped breathing. He sat there and
drained the man to ensure his death was as painful as Jimin could make it.
Ah the marshmallow bag was beside him forgotten amidst the fight. Jimin tore it
open and through it over there corpses.
He deserved it...they deserved it… he had to... he had No choice..
He was so caught up in himself he didn’t hear the sirens of a police car and
the approaching footsteps.
“ W-what the hell?”
Shit.
There a good 10 feet away was a police officer flashlight in his left and right
hand on his gun.
“What happened?”
Silence.
“Are you okay?”
Silence.
“Who did this?”
In that moment Jimin got off his feet, the fog that clouded his mind clearled.
The numbness he felt wore off.
Who did this? Did I? No no I didn’t…It was...me
He gaze trailed to the three corpses surrounding him the scene horrific. Blood
was splattered everywhere. The police officer shown his light on Jimin. They
both took in his appearance. Jimin's pastel pink sweater was torn to pieces
covered in blood. No not just his sweater he was too. On his face, pants, his
sweater, it was everywhere.
What did I do?
Jimin began to cry. The police officer faltered at the sight.
I have to get home...Chin-sun...Mom...dad
The amount of scenarios that ran through the officers head on what exactly he
was looking at didn’t match up to what was before him. A man-no a child soaked
in blood, bruises and cuts from head to toe stood in the center of the corpses.
The poor thing was balling his eyes out as he looked around. If it hadn’t been
for Jimins black bloody hands the officer would have never thought that this
was all his doing.
Even child mutants were capable of killing and they both knew that.
“Put your hands behind your back kid and don’t move.”
Jimin hiccuped wiping his tears with the back of his dirty sleeve.
Run. He needed to run.
Jimin looked at the officer, more like past the officer, towards his only
escape route. Breathing in deeply Jimin ran slowly with a limp in his step.
“Don’t come any closer! I will not hesitate to shoot.”
Jimin ignored him.
“Kid I am warning you!”
Nothing was going to stop him. Not those men. Not this officer. He needs to get
home.
A bullet escaped the barrel of the officer's gun the loud bang of the gun
echoing in the alleyway. It hit Jimin in the chest. The impact knocked him off
his feet and onto the pavement. God damn that hurt so much, thanks to his vest
it didn’t enter his body needless to say it still was painful. Jimin shut his
eyes and stilled, waiting for the officer to get closer to him. Footsteps
approached Jimin and as soon as he felt the officer bend down to examine him he
reached out grabbing onto the officers ankle. He was conscious of his actions
this time so he held on long enough for the man to faint from dizziness, when
he wakes up his head was going to hurt like hell. Jimin laid the officer down
gently and pulled his black coat off, wrapping it around his own shoulders.
“Sorry.”
Jimin said in a hushed voice.
He bolted running as fast as he could push his legs to, screams called out from
behind him. He shoved past crowds of civilizations never once looking back. The
bittersweet image of there bloody corpses covered in marshmallows remained
fresh in his memory. What had he done?
In his panic Jimin didn’t realize the trail of blood he left behind.

Jimin had been running through the woods for what seemed like hours, heart
hammering against his chest. His breathing was uneven, heavy short breaths was
all he could manage without combusting into sobs. Tall trees surrounded him at
every corner. the winds howls sounded like judgmental whispers to his ears.
Amidst all his running a loose root caught Jimin's foot causing him to fall
face first into the cold ground. Damn it. Quickly trying to get to his feet
Jimin fell again. Pathetic, god damn it I’m so…stupid. Jimin banged his fist
against the dirt, crumbled leaves sticking to his hands. He looked from the
floor noting that running around blindly wouldn’t get him anywhere. And
continuing to fall on his face wouldn’t either. Or would it. Had it not been
for that fall he would have missed the the long outstretched branches of an
almond tree peeking out from behind two pine trees. Finally…I’m home Grunting
from the pain he lifted himself off the floor getting to his feet. The cold
wind hit against cuts and bruises causing him to shiver. Just a little more and
he would be safe. Past the withered almond trees and fields of Periwinkles was
his home, his mother, his father. I just need to walk a little more. That was
the last thought that ran through his mind before he finally slipped out of
consciousness. Dreams of dead men and gunshots were interrupted by a soft
gentle voice. “Jimin. Sweetie he's waking up get his things.” JImin barely
registered the arms tossling him around. Everything was foggy as his eyes
flickered open. He was on his couch, his father telling his mother something.
She nodded and ran out of the room returning with a backpack in hand. “W-Whats
going on?” They turned in his direction there expressions filled with worry and
something else he didn’t recognize. “JImin!” Jimin rubbed his tired eyes.
“Jimiin look at me.” His father grabbed jimin by the shoulders so they were
face to face. “Jimin leave.” “What?!” What happened? He was...Here with his
bird and then he Left- Oh oh no. Memories of the incident returned leaving a
bitter taste in his mouth. I killed them. I blacked out and killed them. How
could i have…? Immediately noticing the panic his mother pulled JImin into a
hug. “Jimin what ever happened you had no choice. You had to do it. Look at me
son, those men were vile, they hurt you.” Ms.Park shuddered at the thought of
what those man had done to her son. Her innocent sweet child. If they weren’t
already dead she would have killed them herself. She was enraged not because he
killed them but because they had hurt him so much to the point where he
couldn't take it anymore. They prepared him to take a couple of punches life
would definitely throw at him. Yet here he was in her arms trembling, bleeding,
suffering. How many punches did he take, how many kicks came his way, how many
cuts had he bled through, h-how many tears did he cry. Her grip tightened. “B-
But i...I killed them.” “I know...i know.” Ms.Park pulled, looking jimin
straight in his eyes. “Jimin u need to listen to me ok. We are running out of
time.” What was she talking about? He was home, he was safe right? Still
choking on his salty tears. “Jimin the pain they put you through will continue
even so you don’t have to endure all of it. They can punch you a couple of
times and you can take it but if they ever threaten your life or someone
important to you never hold back. The blood they spill, the ones they kill, the
ones they leave broken are all ok in their eyes because to them we are monsters
and that alone justifies everything. But you are no less a person than anyone.”
She couldn't hold back her tears. “Mom what's happening why are you saying
this? I don't understand” That's when a small red bird flew in chirping loudly,
clearly shaken. Besides the small tweets from the bird the faint sounds of
sirens was drawing near. The sudden realization of what what going on hit Jimin
like a truck. They found them. Those Sirens signalled people. People who were
getting closer by the second. “They found us.” Those words came out with a hint
of panic. “Son,” his father continuing for his wife,”Let them load there guns,
ready there fists, and steady there knives we will do the same. We will fight
for what we are. So promise me you will too. Promise you’ll do what you have
to, to survive. You are the most important thing to us. We love you.” This was
it this was what they had planned since his birth. Today was bound to happen.
This was their final goodbye. “I-I promise. I love you guys so much.” They all
embraced each other in tears. Mr.Park pulled back first. “Jimin take this.” he
said handing him a backpack. “Jimin inside is some stuff you're gonna need.
There’s some money, clothes, and in the small pocket is an andress. Go there it
will be safe. Don’t look back. Go be free. Enjoy what this world has to offer.”
“Y-Your not coming are you?” Jimin already knew the answer. “Your gonna need
all the time you can get Jimin. Those arent cops out there, their MEU Jimin.
We’ll stall as long as we can but you can’t come back.” “Ok...Ok mom i won’t.”
The sirens were louder than before, the sound of people getting into place so
close you could hear there footsteps. “Jimin don’t forget us or we’ll come back
to haunt you.” Mr.Park joked to lighten the mood. Traces of sadness dripped
from his words. “Aish don’t scare the kid.” She swatted at her husband. “Come
out with your hands in the air we got the place surrounded!” A voice was spoke
through a megaphone. “Jimin they already checked the shed, leave now.” Grabbing
his backpack Jimin leaped up already aware of what to do next. He had practiced
this dozens of times. Under his parents bed was a tunnel into that lead to the
shed outside, which the MEU already checked. The entrance was hidden and by the
sounds of it they didn't find it. “When i say go run Jiminie.” Jimin nodded and
ran down the hall to their room before glancing at them once more. “I love you
guys.” Jimin repeated bitterly smiling at them. They did the same, their smiles
more genuine than the one he forced. JImin walked into there room and pushed
the bed off the hole in the ground. Focus Jimin Focus. He hopped in and walked
down the narrow path clutching his backpack. He stopped at the exit to confirm
no one was inside the shed before pushing the wooden door open slowly. Jimin
pulled himself out of the tunnel. He held onto the door knob waiting for the
signal. Peeking through the wooden door he saw his parents standing on the
porch. “We know he's in there mutants. Give him to us now or you’ll all die!”
“He did nothing wrong. Those men hurt him first so tell me why he should get
punished for defending himself.” “Because he's a monster, all of you are.” “And
do tell me what makes him a monster?” She fired back at the MEU who snickered.
“Ain't it obvious, you're not human. You freaks were born monsters.” “I pity
you sir. I pity you all. That's why you kill us? Why you hunt us?! Because we
are different because we were born monsters?! Well i have news for you, all of
you, everyone single one of you. Monsters don’t walk the earth. They live
inside our minds, constantly whispering awful words. Just waiting for the day
you finally give in and listen. Slowly there words eat away at your innocence,
your purity, your kindness. Eventually killing all that is human, thats what
makes a monster not our looks or what we can do because at some point we were
all born human, not monsters! So dont you dare come here and expect me to hand
my son over to the likes of you!” Jimin's mother was so beautiful and strong
while she stood there chin up without any sign of fear. She never backed down
from an argument. He always admired her. Taken aback by her sudden speech they
lowered their guard. “NOW!” His father signaled. Jimin pushed the door to the
shed all the way open and ran for it. “You four go after him!” He bolted into
the woods MEU’s right behind him. Up the hill was where the pine trees were
thickest thats where he would lose them. Only if they didn't shoot him dead
first. Trust him they did shoot a lot. It had only been 10 minutes since he
left the shed but his body couldn't keep up with his need to run. His body was
screaming at him to rest. Not only was he physically drained but so was his
mentality. He wasn't skilled enough to avoid that many bullets without some not
missing their mark. And many wouldn’t have if it weren't for the birds that
took the bullets in his place. He couldn’t just watch as the birds his father
befriended continue to drop dead because of him. So Jimin stopped, quickly
hiding behind a tree. It would only take a second he assured himself grabbing
onto the firm branches climbing up. Survive. He promised to survive. Only kill
if someone precious was threatened. Jimin slipped into the dark place, lost in
the fog again. “Split up and look for him he couldn’t have gone far.” When they
were all a good distance from each other jimin jumped down onto one of them.
Grabbing onto his neck knocking his gun out of his hand. JImin had him in a
choke hold, the MEU clawed at his arms as Jimin Choked him to death. He waited
until he no longer felt a pulse and released him. Thebody slumped to the floor.
Next. Jimin found the second a couple yards down, back towards jimin. He ran at
him latching himself onto his back. Swiftly snapping his neck. He didn't have
the time to make them suffer he just needed them dead. Jimins ears were worn
out. Even though he had killed all four of them he could still hear the sounds
of there guns firing. It seemed to never seize. He didn't want to kill them, he
just wanted it stop. Jimin retraced his steps looking for the corpses of birds.
The distance he had put was far enough from home as is so he took the time to
collect each corpse. Burying each, placing flowers, and shedding a couple of
tears. Feeling guilty he placed a couple daisies in the MEU’s corpses. Cleaning
off his hands he made his way to the top of the hill. And God he was not ready
for what layed down there. He couldn’t see anyone clearly from tis far away but
he didn’t have to see there faces to know that there were 20,maybe more, bodies
sprawled on what used to be his front yard. It was beautiful. They periwinkles
he had waited for years to bloom had finally appeared. From here it looked like
a gorgeous sea he wanted to dive into. Unfortunately the calm never did last
long. Like a thunderbolt striking the once calm sea there was a gunshot. Which
wasn't new. But the blood curdling scream that followed was. He knew that voice
it was his mothers. Oh god. Oh god! Jimins fear took over his need to help,
running back into the pines for cove away from his home. He truly was a good
for nothing coward. Jimin didn’t know for certain if they serviced but he
hoped. He really needed to stop crying, he wasn’t a baby. His dad would make
fun of him if he saw him now. Jimin giggled, Wiping at his tears. What was he
going to do now? Out of breath for the millionth time today he grabbed his
backpack and pulled out the paper. Dear Jimin, If you're reading this then
something’s happened and we aren’t with you. Me and your dad know you can get
through this though. Go to 1234 *****Ave, Seoul. It’s right next to a lovely
bakery. There’s a man who lives there he will take care of you. So don’t cry
ok? The bakery has good cake. Eat it in my place since it’s my favorite. Love,
You Mom and dad<3 Just once more Jimin was gonna cry. After that no more tears
he promised to stay strong. That night he slept in the woods wailing his heart
out. No sleep came to him, too afraid of the things he would have to face
inside his mind. Tommorow he was heading to Seoul.

The sun peaked out from behind tall trees, it’s beams ushering Jimin to move
on. Yesterday evening He had laid down on the patchy grass floor intending to
get some sleep but blissful slumber did not visit him that night.
Only heart shattering memories of what had happened the day before engrossed
his thoughts. Replaying on and on like a broken video recorder on loop,
constantly tormenting him. Every Time he closed his eyes or let his thoughts
wander they would go back to the same images.
The kicks.
The bruises.
The punches.
The cuts..
Unconsciously his hand moved up to the deep swelled cut near his jaw that would
scar him forever.
Even after everything had stilled into nothingness he could still feel the
pain, not just physically. Yes his body ached and bled but the pain inflicted
on his mind was far worse. It hurt inside his head and Jimin had a feeling that
this pain wouldn’t heal like the wounds on his body. The anxiety that came with
it Made his breathing quicken, there would be a ball in his throat that made
him unable to say a single word, his chest would burn, and his whole body
trembled like there was a permanent earthquake shaking everything around him.
Jimin wanted his memories whipped clean of the filth that was himself.
Yet as he stood up from the now damp ground he knew that’s not what he wants,
not what he deserves. He deserved to suffer for everything he had caused, to
feel all the pain the he had inflicted 10 times over.
Honestly Jimin had no clue as to what was going to happen. It hit him that
people lived like that, unsure of what life was going to throw at them. Jimin
questioned How could they live like that? For all his life he knew exactly what
he was going to be doing the following day, the day after that, hell he even
knew what he would be doing in a year. That certainty gave him a sense of
security. It was safe. Wondering what would happen to him in the near future as
he headed west was Terrifying.
What if they found him? What if he’s discovered before he reaches his
destination? What if his parents are dead?
Jimin slapped himself across the face. A red stinging mark formed on his left
cheek. He needed to snap out of it. Surely his parents weren’t dead. There
screams nor the mounds of bullets being fired was not enough to confirm there
deaths...right?
There’s no way..I’m sure there fine…There probably on there way to Seoul..to
wait for me..Ya..ya
Deep down Jimin knows that he’s only fooling himself. It was impossible to kill
all those MEU without being shot at least a couple of times. They would most
likely bleed out to death from the holes in their body. Escaping wasn’t an
option against what they had faced. Jimin hopes, prayed to anything,
everything, that his parents got out of there alive.
Getting caught in a web of his own delusional hopes was the only way to keep
moving without breaking down into a pathetic mess of regret. For the third time
he allowed the vines to spread, hazy fog clouding his mind. He hated the
numbing feeling that cut him off from the outside world. But he couldn’t deny
the relief it gave him. It frightened him that each time he fell into the
darkness it got easier, more comfortable. And that isn’t what he wanted. What
would happen if he continued to do this? Did getting used to the feeling mean
he would forever stumble around In the icy mist he created. The frigid
sensation always froze over his flesh, pricking his skin with a million tiny
swords. While at the same time frosting it, keeping all of his emotions inside.
Where they were untouchable, cowering away from the cruel world. How could he
possibly turn away from the numbness when it offered him something he needed,
protection. Shaking his head symbolizing the rejection of the offer, for now,he
threw his backpack over his shoulder. It’s just for now.
Once I find Mom and Dad I won’t do it ever again. This isn’t the person they
want me to be.
Jimin had well over passed the small mountain he had perched himself on. Far
west from his house was an open road. It was small and secluded, only people
heading out to camp took it. The very few cars that went by proved it. Scanning
the area beforehand he came out from behind the bushes, walking on the side of
the road.
During his sleepless night Jimin had came up with his well thought out plan to
escape Busan. He would take a bus to daegu and then a train from there to
Seoul. It was a fairly simple plan.
Jimins grumbling stomach interrupted his train of thought. Of course now was a
perfect time to feel hungry.
Opening his backpack he scavenged for food.
“Aishhh no luck!”
He had money and some spare clothing but no food.
“Ah a map!”
Picking up the map he searched for the empty road he had come across. Pointing
his slightly chubby finger on his current location he dragged his finger up to
where the road led. A couple miles ahead the road would open up,leading to a
bigger part of busan. Where there were tons of people, buildings, buses, and
most importantly food.
Jimin shoved the map into his backpack. Before it completely slipped his mind
he grabbed his spare clothing and headed off the road and into the forest.
At the moment Jimin looked like shit. Bruises everywhere, cuts too, his clothes
were a tattered mess.
If he were to walk into town surely someone would call the police to inform
them about the beat up homeless boy.
Hiding behind a tree Jimin took off his clothes slowly. Pulling his stained
ripped sweater off his torso was harder than he thought it would be. The fabric
clung to his skin making it uncomfortable to move. Grabbing the bottom hem of
it he managed to yank it off. The swift movement sent a surge of pain threw out
his body. He stared at His chest littered in huge dark purple bruises. Jimin
lightly touched a bruise that had yellowed on his ribcage. Immediately removing
it, hissing at the pain. Next Jimin unbuckled his pants and slid them off. Also
an uneasy task because of the stinging cuts and sore bruises. He rolled them up
into a tight ball, taking out the clean cloths first, and placed them inside
the bag.
There was an oversized black and white striped, thick knitted, turtleneck. His
mother always bought his clothes a couple sizes bigger because she knew how
much Jimin loved clothes that enveloped his small frame. A small sour smile
spread on Jimin's face at the thought.
He gently pulled up the tight black pair of jeans he had found, careful not to
touch any of his bruises. Frankly there was nothing he could do about the birds
nest that his hair became besides throwing his beanie over it. Jimin put his no
longer white converse on and looked at his gloved hands. The once white yarn
now a mess of brown mixed in with blotches of red. Jimin considered getting rid
of them. After a moment he decided against it, he couldn’t risk taking them
off. He hid his gloves under the long sleeves of his shirt, balling the fabric
in his fist to make sweater paws. With that he set out.
Every step Jimin took felt like he was walking on needles. Jimin wouldn’t be
complaining since he actually liked exercising if it weren’t for the fact he
had been on his feet for a long while. The weather wasn’t doing him any favors
either. The wind was strong, each gust pricking his skin making it flush red.
Leaves fell from every direction some hitting him square in the faces. It
wasn’t painful just really annoying. Something he really didn’t need right now.

20 minutes into Jimin's walk he noticed a green van pull over behind him. Jimin
ready to run stopped when a man got out. He was old very old sort of ancient
looking. The old man was fat his height reminded him of a tall wide mountain.
Noticing Jimin's weariness he smiled.
“Hey kid what are you doing out here? Your gonna catch a cold.”
Jimin didn’t reply. Still smiling he continued.
“Don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you. Do u need a lift I’m headed to daegu?”
Ok Jimin was freezing his feet did hurt like hell but he wasn’t goin to-
“Sure.”
Jimin was indeed an idiot. A nieve foolish child. The warmth of the old man’s
smile had completely blind sighted him. He felt if he rejected him it would be
rude. So Jimin hopped into the old man's van.
Inside it smelled both of artificial pine and something Jimin couldn’t
distinguish. Looking around there were air fresheners scattered everywhere,
Jimin shrugged it off as an “old people thing”.
“Do you mind if I turned the radio on.”
Jimin faked a smile to be polite shaking his head from side to side to indicate
no.
“-can you tell us what you saw?”
It was a news reporter of some sort. The voice he heard was a woman’s. It
changed to a deeper masculine voice after she had asked her question.
“Well I was just passing by when I saw a crowd forming by a nearby alleyway. I
was curious so I went to check it out. As soon as I had peaked at what everyone
else was looking at I screamed and called the police.”
“And what was it that you saw sir?”
“There was a pile of bodies at the end of the alleyway. Blood was splattered
everywhere. Mixed in with all the blood were…”
“What was it sir?”
“...They were marshmallows.”
His voice was shaking at the his own words. Jimin could imagine the mans face.
Disgust.
That was him. He did that. They were talking about him. Park Jimin. Park Jimin
the killer.
“You heard it here folks. In a quiet peaceful part of Busan where almost
nothing happens a murder has suddenly occurred. It can only be described as
a..Bittersweet Killing.”
Jimin froze, his anxiety crept back in from the corner that it usually hid in.
Always ready to add fuel to the fire that was Jimin's agonizing pain.
Suddenly the van shook violently as it veered off road to a clearing. Jimin had
spaced out from shock and didn’t notice until the road was nowhere in site. He
was about to comment on it when he heard the reporter continue.
“This killing is confirmed to be connected to the massacre that occurred he-“
“Come on baby don’t listen to that.”
The old man turned down the radio, his smile contorted into a grin. A
disgusting revolting grin. Jimin only looked at him.
“Mm baby you look so helpless how about you come give daddy here a taste.”
“Turn it back on.”
Jimin whispered his quiet command, fist clenched. He wanted to know what
happened. Did they die? Did they live?
“No baby boy huhuhu. Show what you’ll give me in return.”
“Ok..”
Jimin removed his gloves without the bastard seeing and covered them again with
his sleeves. He crept onto the ghastly toad looking mans lap.
“Yes that’s it Now-.”
Jimin wasted no time in rapping his black fingers around the man's neck and
squeezing the life out of him.
“Your disgusting. Don’t smile at kids and give them hope if your just going to
take it away. How many more before me huh?.”
“Huh-ack.*wheeze….monster!”
The toad man went limp in his cheap leather chair. He didn’t want to make a
mess. This person isn't worth his full ability so he killed him quick, only a
couple drops of blood leaked from his inside. To kill discreetly the best
method was to make them choke on their own blood and release before it poured
out from his mouth. Pushing the man's body over Jimin turned the radio back on.

“-No survivors were found at the scene of the crime. The mutants who engaged in
this terrorism have been killed. Not a single MEU who was sent to find the
murder, who killed three men in an alleyway earlier that day, survived. The
Killers of what there now calling the Dasuli Slaughter were none other than a
family of mutants. Only one member escaped, he’s a young boy in his late teens.
Around 5’7, wearing a light pink sweater and light jeans. Be on the lookout for
anyone suspicious looking and immediately inform the MEU. The boy alone was
responsible for over 7 of those killings including the alley murder. Whatever
you do if you find this young boy do not confront him. I repeat do not confront
him. We don’t need any more killings at the hands of this monster.”
Jimin shut off the woman’s voice, growing irritated of listening to nails
against a chalkboard.
Why are we so different? Because we have killed? They have killed but when our
blood is on their hands all that can be heard are cheers. Fine.
Jimin sat there in his puddle of silent anger.
Survive. That’s what she told me to do. Mom I’ll survive like I promised.
That’s what he intended to do, keep the promises he made to his parents.
Your dead. Is there an afterlife for mutants like us? Or do we all just burn in
hell. Mom, dad I hope your somewhere better than here. Where you can grow all
the flowers you want Mom. Hopefully there are a bunch of animals you can play
with dad.
In his mind he imagined them standing in a field of flowers waving at him as
beautiful foreign birds flew in the sky. Among those birds would be Chin-sun.
They smiled, genuinely, at him and then walked away deeper into the field.
Mom, dad did you know it’s easier to be the monster they want me to be than to
be the person they will never admit I am. At least that way I’ll survive.
Jimin stepped out of the van to walk over to the left door. He grabbed the fat
mans very heavy corpse by the Ames and hauled him out onto the ground. If it
wasn’t clear he’s stealing his van. Jimins never actually road any vehicle
before but he did read how to so he was going to try. After about 15 minutes of
pressing every button Jimin could find he managed to somehow get the hang of
it. Sitting in this van felt sick. The leather chair was uncomfortable. The
smell of artificial pine was overpowering. Turning the engine back on Jimin
headed towards Daegu.
Jimin liked not having to walk but the hun of the engine never compared to the
rush he would get when he was on his feet. For the remainder of the ride Jimin
didn’t touch the radio.
The silence only gave room for his thoughts to speak aloud. He was the only
survivor of a massacre. People were going to be looking for him.
I bet they have some sort of reward for hunting me.
He wasn’t an animal so why was he treated like one? Wait no actually he was
treated worse. He had only stepped out for one day, less than 2 hours and
everything went to shit.
How was he going to live with himself knowing it was all his fault. So many
people died because of him. If he hadn’t left everything would be fine. He
should have just called his mom and waited for her to come home to help Chin-
sun. Now there all dead.
But was it really his fault?
I killed them. I’m responsible.
Jimin couldn’t control the hate he had for himself. He was no better than the
toad he left dead a couple miles back and he was far worse than those three men
that had beat him in an alleyway.
I’m...a monster.
At that moment Jimin looked in the mirror. He didn’t see the goofy bubbly kid
that loved periwinkles anymore. His soft lightly tanned face was pale, sickly
looking. Jimins eyes didn’t seem to be focused, they had a dazed look. Under
his almond shaped eyes were dark bags from not sleeping. The cut on his jaw
stretching up had stopped bleeding, still red and puffy tho. His black fringe
covered a little above his eyes. It was tangled and had leaves stuck in some
areas. He didn’t look like Park Jimin at all.
Staring at himself like this Jimin understood why the car smelled of artificial
pine to the point where it was overbearing.
It was to mask the stench of that piece of shit trash the old man was. He hid
behind pleasant offers and soft smiles. Trying to ensnare you in his trap.
Assuming It wasn’t Jimin Who had gotten in that car what would have happened.
An innocent child would have been raped. Scarred with the memory of what that
geezer did to him forever.
Jimin was a monster because he was a mutant so tell him what was the old man's
excuse. What was the three gangster excuse? What was the MEUs excuse? What was
the humans excuse?
Humans can kill. Humans can torture . Humans can inflict pain just as bad as a
mutant. Humans can have power over people even if there not mutants.
I’m a monster but humans are worse, their demons.
Jimins love and curiosity for humans was extinguished like a campfire doused in
water. Jimin wouldn’t trust them because one day they would stab him in the
back when he offered them all of his trust.
Jimin drove on in the green van that stunk of trash. Now the artificial pine
couldn’t hide the disgusting odder.
I’m headed to Seoul Dad,Mom…
